Dr. Carlo Oller is an ER physician with a popular YouTube channel. Today he’s back with another informative clip, this time about what infected abdominal fluid looks like. Ascites is the accumulation of fluid in the peritoneal cavity, causing abdominal swelling. This fluid is normally similar in appearance to urine. Peritonitis is an inflammation of the peritoneum, the membrane that lines the abdomen. This causes the fluid to look almost like a dark soda. For a visual demo of this effect, watch the clip!
